“So that I might do honorable deeds that I had left behind"; nay! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day of Resurrection.
The Arabic Quran reading Fujjar who don’t transform their Jinn soulmate into a believer with Adhikr will regret like this. They will witness against their soul that indeed they were disbelievers at the time of death vide verse 7: 37 and on the Day of Judgment vide verse 6: 130. It is told in verses 63: 9-10: “Oh you who have believed! Let not your wealth and children divert you from Adhikr; and whoever does that, then they are the losers. And you spend from what Lord has provided you before the death comes to one of you; then he says: ‘My Lord! If You would delay me for a while, I would testify the Truth and be among the honorable’”. As Fujjar are deaf, dumb, and blind towards Adhikr, they will never return to the Straightpath and to the Paradise as explained in verse 2: 18. See explanation 2: 121; 15: 2; 17: 13-15 and 23: 62-63.
After the 4th phase which extends from the 15th age to the death of a human, the soul attains the 5th phase. In sleep, the soul departs where life doesn’t. But in death, the life and soul (Spirit) departs as explained in verses 6: 60-61. Then in the 5th phase just opposite to sleep, life will not be there where the soul exists. So, he can feel whatever affects the body, but can’t resist anything. In the case of Fujjar who didn’t testify Adhikr, their 5th phase will be 1 of the 7 valleys of Hell.
It is told in verse 36: 12: “Indeed, We shall revive the dead, We are Recording all that they are sending ahead and that their footprints left behind, We have Recorded everything in an Open Ledger”. But the Fujjar will have the evil consequences of what they did and in addition to that the evils of what their footprints left behind. See explanation 4: 85; 9: 53-55 and 16: 24-25.
